When I graduated from school, I thought I knew what I wanted. I was sure that I wanted to be either in consulting, or work in the marketing department for a large organization (like Proctor and Gamble or Unilever). However, this wasn’t the case. I was lucky in that I found a job that I truly enjoy and avoided having…
…a quarterlife crisis when you realize that you lied to yourself so you could feel stable
While I avoided the quarter life crisis, I did have a difficult time adjusting to my first job (which was in sales). When I look back at it, the reason I was having problems was that I was tricking myself into believing that I had a job that I wanted. When I finally came to my senses, I was able to escape and land a new job. I still work at the same company today.
The reason I’m talking about this is that I recently read a post by Penelope Trunk which talks about how to figure out what you want to do with your life. It’s an interesting read, even if you are already sure that you know what you want to do with your life. Follow the link above to see for yourself.
